Að höggva mann og annan
Decapitating a Man and Another
A little girl stands at an empty field with a protective shield and 5 cents in her pocket.
She waits for the invisible monster.
That only takes form as a whisper in her ear
She thinks to herself: if I had 10 more cents than I wouldn't be so small
She wants to scream and disappear into the emptiness
The emptiness takes her so warmly into its arms and hugs her
My solo exhibition for my third year, was titled Að höggva mann og annan (Decapitating a Man and Another). This exhibition is dedicated to providing comfort and support to a young girl, and her desire to challenge the power structures in society
Visitors had the opportunity decapitate melons inscribed with "AAAAH!" Auja Mist served as the showgirl, with Lottó playing in the background.
In Að höggva mann og annan, I address the financial anxiety that permeates today's economy. The interactive experience allowed people to decapitate the melons, representing the capital and its influence. Additionally, there was a giant figure representing the capital.
